The ever popular Kimono sale has hundreds of pre-owned kimonos and obis on sale to choose from.

Okinawa’s Second-Hand Kimono Bargain Sale, a 4-day event for the entire family or for anyone who admires the beauty of the Kimono tradition, takes place this weekend.

This popular event has been held annually for 10 years now, supported by the Kadena Gift Shop, attracting repeat visitors and newcomers alike. Kimonos will be on sale for bargain prices starting at ¥2,000 up to ¥ 8,000. On sale are wedding kimonos, silk, washable, obi, children’s kimono sets, kimonos for display and Japanese style dressing items. The new booth “Chiho Couture” remakes kimonos into modern clothing. Organizers are anticipating a lot of interest  in the new, attractive and modern style of the kimono.

There will be demonstrations throughout the day on how to wear these beautiful pieces. The demonstrations will be done by the Founder of the Sakura Bisou Kimono School. Visitors can learn about the history behind this traditional Japanese dress, while admiring the beauty of a second-hand kimono.

The event features advice and demonstrations on how to put on and wear kimono correctly.
