U.S. Marine cyclist injured when hit by motorcycle
A motorcycle turning right toward Uruma City on Highway 329 crashed into a bicycle being ridden by a U.S. Marine, then fled the scene.
The 35-year-old Marine fell, suffering facial lacerations and injuries to both knees. The incident occurred in the Ikehara district of Okinawa City about 5:35 a.m. The motorcycle with two people on it raced from the scene, and Okinawa City Police began investigating the accident as a hit-and-run.
Some 15 hours later, two boys appeared at a police station, wanting to talk to Okinawa City Police about the accident. Police say they’re obtaining information from the boys, including information that they may have been the ones who caused the accident.
