Weekend Dream Festival all about kids

Children are billed as the main actors at this weekend’s Dream Festival @ Kodomo no Kuni, but adults can be an integral part of the fun too at the many booths and on-stage events.

The action takes place on the water and green public square at Okinawa Kodomo no Kuni both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. ~ 5 p.m.  “Let’s eat, make and play!” is the overall theme of the festivities, which has three sub-themes but also a booth creating an exhibition using original photographs and lighting illumination.

‘Play all together’ encourages kids to figure out “Where’s the pirate?”, “What’s the time, Mr. Wolfe?  2012 with 100 people!” and “Magical Zoo.  The second zone talks about ‘Make and Play”, a concept that includes making ice cream, making Chura marble, and dealing with “the balloon ranger”.

The other sub-theme is ‘Look, listen and enjoy!’, which presents a Lion Dance, high school students band and the Ryukyu University juggling team.  Organizers promise even more excitement from other groups.

Also at the Dream Festival are children’s stalls and a flea market.  Admission is ¥500 for adults, ¥200 for junior and senior high school students, and kids ages four through elementary school ¥100.
