Surveillance cameras installed on Ichibankan’s Palmyra Street

The Palmyra Street Committee, and association of merchants of the street area within Ichibankan Mall in Okinawa City  installed two surveillance cameras on their street at Chuo district of Okinawa City, on  Jan. 22.

The cameras were installed at the cost of ¥188,000 using proceeds from the “Samma (Pacific Saury) Fest” held in September last year.  The decision to install the cameras was made at a general meeting of the association held in October last year.

The committee plans to install one more camera during the next fiscal year.

Association officials said that they decided that the cameras were necessary as someone had damaged and broken signs on the street, and a burglary into an empty house.
