A 18-year-old high school student without a driver’s license lost control of a light truck he was driving on prefectural road 85 in Yaejima, Okinawa City, about 9:40 p.m. Friday. The truck turned on its side, and the boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital unconscious.

Another 18-year-old high school boy who was in the truck on the passenger seat sustained minor injuries on his legs.

Okinawa City Police investigating the accident says the accident occurred on a clear, straight stretch of the road, but added that the road was wet and somewhat slippery because of rain at the time

The police continues investigating the cause of the accident in detail.
