The lucky winner of this week’s JU raffle is Candace Wilson, who won a meal ticket worth ¥2,500 to the 50’s Café located in Ishikawa, Uruma City, near Camp Courtney. The 50’s café is renown for its authentic Americana interior and burgers that regular customers swear are the best on the island.

Candace is from Yakima, WA, and has lived on Okinawa almost one and half years. She is scheduled to move on in June 2014.

She likes her life here very much, calling her experience so far “Awesome!” Her favorite local dish is Arashi’s Garlic Rice, and she is not savoring her meal, she likes to go snorkeling on one of the island’s many nice beaches. She also likes hiking on he wilderness trails in northern Okinawa.

She especially mentions the information on Japan Update’s facebook page “because it has good info on sightseeing and places to visit.”
