Magic Museum returns with light and sound

Visitors can experiment with effects of light.

The Magic Museum is returning to the Urasoe City Museum on Saturday for a six-week run, taking visitors through the world of art as experienced with both light and sound.

“Magic Museum 2013 –Museum of the light-” is a fine art exhibition in which a visitor can feel and experience modern art. Magic Museum 2013 is the second phase of “Magic Museum 2011”, which 40,000 people visited the Urasoe City Museum to see. The 14 works being displayed are all different from the 10 works last time, carrying visitors to a world of art, which is full of light.

Most of the objects on display are meant to be experienced close and personal.

The Magic Museum is open every day except Monday.  The Museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. On Fridays, the museum is open 9:30 a.m. ~ 7 p.m. Visitors must enter at least 30 minutes before closing time.  Advance admission is ¥600 for college and high school students and adults, ¥300 for younger students and ¥100 for kids 3 through kindergarten.  Entry at the museum door is ¥800 for adults, college and high school students, ¥400 for junior high school and elementary school students, and ¥200 for youngsters 3 through kindergarten.

More than 40,000 visitors came to see the “Magic Museum” in 2011.

The fine-arts work of the light using the vision effect, which is called media art or kinetic art in modern art will be exhibited by the center. This will become the cause to get to know the pleasure of modern art and an art museum for not only adults but also children who are familiar with and grew up in digital environment.
