A group of veteran and younger Okinawan rockers gathered at Music Town to express their support for the upcoming 31st Peaceful Rock Festival.

One of the largest music events in Okinawa, Peaceful Love Rock Festival is again on schedule for July 13 (Sat) and 14 (Sun).

At a press conference at Music Town Sound Market in Okinawa City, June 28, some well-known local groups and artists including Murasaki, JET and Kachan showed their enthusiasm for the Grand Old Daddy of all Okinawa music events.

Yoshihiro Tokuyama, the producer of the event says “This event is now held for the 31^st time. First, we want to thank all of artists, groups and audiences for their support. This year we greet musicians from Korea, China and Taiwan for the second consecutive year. So we hope this event will increase good will and understanding between China, Korea, Taiwan, and Okinawa. It’s a good chance to widen the appeal of the Peaceful Love Rock Festival to all of Asia, and we hope the artists bring their talents into full play and rock on in Okinawa!”

Veteran rock musician Kachan observed “I have played at the Peaceful Love Rock Festival every year for 30 years! Many players who were not even born when I entered this event first time, have grown up taller than me, and play on the same stage! The more I sing at this event, the more I enjoy it!”

Other artists said “We will make this the best rock festival for Okinawan people.”

The Peaceful Love Rock Festival will be held July 13 and 14 at the Okinawa City special field stage in the Yamauchi district of the city near KAB Gate 5.

Gates to the event will open both days at 1 p.m. The music will start 1:30 p.m..

The tickets are available at Okinawa Market on Chuo Park Avenue in Okinawa City and cost ¥3,500 yen for one day.  Two-day tickets cost ¥7,000. Also, those who buy two tickets at a time at Okinawa Market will get a ¥1,000 discount. The telephone number to Okinawa Market is 098-989-0071.
