San-A Machinato opens after renovations.

San-A , Machinato on Hwy 58 in Urasoe, is opening today (Sep. 20) after extensive renovations it has undergone over the past few weeks.

The renovated department store features new tenants such as GU, a low cost clothing retailer, which will be the first outlet of the chain in Okinawa. Another new store will be a craft store called Craft Heart Tokai. These two stores will eventually be introduced into 17 other San-A stores as well.

San-A Machinato opened in 1985, and this is its largest-scale makeover to date.
