A&W celebrates 50 years in Okinawa!

A&W Makiminato branch invites everyone to build their own dream hamburger Sat., Sun. and Mon.

A&W was the first American-style hamburger shop chain to enter Okinawa. The brand is best known for its root beer and root beer floats. It was also the first successful food franchise company in the world when it started franchises in California in 1923.

Now the company celebrates its 50th Anniversary in Okinawa in its original Makiminato Branch by offering customers a chance to build their own “Dream Hamburger,” for which customers can pile up all the toppings they like and as much as they want. Besides the Dream Hamburger, the price includes anything from the side and drink menus, and as much as one can handle.

The Dream Hamburger event takes place in A&W Makiminato Branch only. Tickets are required and are available at A&W Makiminato, Misato, Yagibaru and Kohagura branches. Advance tickets cost ¥880 for adults and ¥500 for children 5 to 12 years of age. Adult tickets at door cost ¥980 while children’s tickets are still the same ¥500.

The event takes place Nov. 2, 3 & 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

Selected A&W branches make root beer orders into root beer floats for free from tomorrow through the 17th.

Elsewhere, as a part of the 50th anniversary campaign, on Nov. 1, A&W Yagibaru branch gives away root beer floats for free. The offer is limited to one per person. And from Nov. 2nd through 17th all A&W Okinawa branches, except the Plaza House and Airport shops, give a scoop of ice cream free of charge to anyone who orders a regular size root beer to change the root beer to root beer float.
