This week’s lucky winner of the JU weekly raffle is Michael Plemmons, who won a pair of tickets to chamber orchestra Io concert. Chamber orchestra Io is an acclaimed group of musicians of the Ryukyu Philharmonic Orchestra that plays regular concerts four times a year. Their next performance will be Feb. 9 at Okinawa Convention Center Theater.

Michael is originally from Springfield, MO, but has called Okinawa home for the past 30 years. In a matter of fact when asked when he’s scheduled to leave the island, he simply states “When I die. I’m very happy here. Forme, Okinawa is a paradise.”

He especially like local beaches, and munching on gyoza, which is his favorite local food. Some day in the near future he would like to visit Kyoto in mainland. He also likes to visit local festivals, and especially the wonderful firework displays they have.
