Food & Flower Festival aims to please both eyes and palate

Food and flowers take over Onoyama Park in Naha this weekend.

The Okinawa Flower & Food Festival, an event focusing on local supply and consumption of Okinawa-grown fresh agriculture, forestry and marine products, including flowers, vegetables and livestock, takes place this weekend at Onoyama Park in Naha.

Good chance to sample.

The festival features everything from processed foods to flowers and fresh produce. The festival introduces goods through exhibitions, competitive shows and contests, food samples and even spot sales.

Experience and exhibition corners are set up at the venue where visitors will be able to see, touch and taste Okinawa’s processed foods,  agricultural and fishery products and flowers, all produced locally within the prefecture.  Awards presented at the competitive show during the event recognize the biggest and best of flowers and vegetables.

In addition to food and flowers, there will be fun attractions on stage including Okinawa’s favorite super hero Ryujin Mabuyer show, live music, and traditional Okinawan dance.

Flowers play a big part.

Parking is available at a nearby Naha Military Port from where people can travel to the festival by free shuttle buses that run between the parking are and he venue from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. about every 15 to 20 minutes.
