Nanjo Convenience store robbed at knifepoint

A convenience store was robbed at knifepoint in the early hours of Sunday morning in Ozato, Nanjo City.

According to Yonabaru Police, a man entered the store with a kitchen knife in his hand threatening the store clerk who was working alone in the shop at the time, and yelled “This is a robbery. Hand over the money!”

The 40-year-old store employee handed about ¥130,000 in cash from the register, and the robber ran away. The employee was not hurt.

Police are continuing investigation and analyzing video from security cameras, trying to identify the robber and his whereabouts. According to police, the man is about 160~170cm tall, medium built, and in his 30s or 40s. He was wearing a black jacket, green pants and a baseball cap, and had a towel tied over his face.
