A 82-year-old Yomitan woman driving her car crashed head-on with a truck on Route 16 in Chibana, Okinawa City, Monday morning.

According to Okinawa City Police investigators, the woman was heading from Akamichi towards Chibana, when the car she was driving veered onto the opposite lane, and collided with the struck. She suffered severe chest injuries in the collision, including several fractured ribs, and is in critical condition in a hospital. The 26-year-old driver of the truck was unharmed.

Police investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
