Genuine Italian cuisine with superb view as bonus

Grand Blue pizza specials include this mouthwatering Monte Bianco.

Italian restaurant Grand Blue is boasting about how special it is, being located on a hilltop in Kitanakagusuku Village, overlooking Awase and the Pacific Ocean.

Napoli Pizza is Grand Blue’s specialty, with the Ingredients, including the dough, imported from Italy and baked in a  wood fired oven that is from Italy, too.  That’s the explanation from chef Keiichiro Makabe.

All ingredients in pizzas, even the dough, are imported from Italy.

To highlight Grand Blue’s uniqueness, they serve specials, such as a ¥1,380 lunch of a genuine Pizza Margherita plus special highest class mozzarella from Hokkaido with salad bar and drink bar.  There also are lunch sets featuring  steak, fish, curry or pasta. For dinners, customers are able to order course menus starting from ¥1,365 with steak, salad rice or bread, soup, dessert and drink. Of course, there are ala carte dishes featuring various kinds of pizzas, and pastas.

Grand Blue’s recent coverage by local TV media is putting more attention on the restaurant, not only for Okinawans but tourists from mainland Japan are increasing, and foreign patrons, too. Makabe says there are some addicted Italian customers who come to visit regularly, and they say it is as perfect Italian taste as anyone can make it, or perhaps even more. Makabe says he’s “very glad people talk to us, because we want customers to taste our food, and let us hear their opinions and views. Some customers say the outside of Grand Blue looks like very high class and seems hard to enter for the first time, but once they get in, they say its gorgeous but feels like home and is a very relaxed place.”

Grand Blue is open daily from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. for dinner.  Last order is 10 p.m. for food and 10:30 p.m. for drinks. Grand Blue is located next to EM Costa Vista Hotel.  A google map is at http://goo.gl/maps/AqexX , and their website is http://www.grandblue-okinawa.com/.  There is plenty of free parking available, and yen and major credit cards are accepted.  Menus with pictures are available. Companion pet dogs are allowed only at lunch and teatime on the terrace space.
