The new Naha Airport International Terminal began operations on Monday.

The terminal building has four floors, and is 3.6 times bigger than the old terminal. It also has more restaurants, a duty free shop (DFS) and other stores, a total of eight tenants. The official opening ceremony was held 7:30 a.m., after which the first passengers walked in.

The construction of the new International Terminal building began in June, 2012, and it was finished in January this year. It has a floor area of 23,450 square meters. It has docks for two medium-size and four small airliners. The cramped immigration space of the old terminal is a thing of the past, and the customer counter space has been expanded making the terminal much more user-friendly to travelers.

Currently the Naha International Terminal handles flights of 10 different airlines flying to seven Asian cities.
