A 79-year-old woman was found floating close to the shore in Tokeshi, Yomitan Village, Wednesday afternoon.

She was transferred to a hospital in cardiopulmonary arrest, but attempts to revive her were not successful and she was pronounced dead later on the same day.

Kadena Police are investigating cause of her death.

According to Yomitan Fire Department rescue team, the woman, a local resident, was found about 10 meters from the shore, floating face down in water that is about one meter deep at the spot.
