The post of Urasoe City deputy mayor has been vacant, but on May 1st the Urasoe City Municipal Assembly appointed 57-year-old Hiroyuki Noguchi, the current chief of general affairs department, to the post by majority vote.

His term began May 2^nd, and is for four years.

Noguchi was born in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. After graduating from the Kagoshima Technical College, he worked at the Asia Giken Co., Ltd., before joining the staff of Urasoe City Hall.
