Okinawan athlete wins World Karate Kata title

Ryo Kyuna of Okinawa won the title at the World Karate Championships finals in male individual Kata category, Saturday, in Bremen, Germany.

In the final contest, Kyuna faced a German athlete.  It has been three tournaments ago that an Okinawan athlete has won the title last time.  Kyuna scored the perfect 5-0 in all five rounds before moving into the final round, in which he performed the ‘Anan’ Kata that earned him the title.

Kyuna won the third prize in the World Championship competition in Paris two years ago, and got to the top on his second challenge.
