Crash leaves two high school kids in critical condition

A 18-year-old high school student from Kin Town, who had gotten his driving license just a week before, lost control of his van that hit a curb, turned over, and then crashed into a cinder block wall of a private house in Noborikawa. Okinawa City, about 2 a.m. on Dec. 26.

Other seven boys and girls were also in the car, all from Kin Town. A 17-year-old boy who had been sitting on the backseat suffered a strong hit on his head, and another 18-year-old boy was thrown out of the car breaking bones on his face and head. Both are unconscious and in critical condition in a hospital.

According to Okinawa City Police, the driver had borrowed his parents’ car to take his high school mates for a ride. The road at the site of the accident has a slight downhill right curve.

Okinawa City Police continue investigating the cause of the accident.
