Mini car fleeing police crashes into utility pole

A police chase of a mini car ended when the fleeing driver failed to turn a street corner, and crashed into a power utility pole in Ishikawa, Uruma City, about 3 a.m. on Dec. 20th.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old hotel employee from Osaka suffered broken ribs and was taken to a hospital. His injuries are not life threatening. A female passenger in the car was not injured.

According to Ishikawa Police, the mini car ignored the red sign at a traffic light, and drove away when a police patrol that had noticed the violation tried to stop it.  Ishikawa Police officials say that the police car kept a safe distance from the mini car, and warned the driver of danger with a blaring siren and red flashlights. They explain that the chase was done in an appropriate manner.
