Kokoro Tsunagaru Project focuses on handicapped

Johnny Ginowan and Wale Wale entertains as one of the warm up acts at the Kokoro Tsunagaru event at Ginowan City Museum, Saturday.

Professional entertainers, handicapped sports figures and people involved with the Kokoro Tsunagaru Project will be leading the afternoon Saturday at the Ginowan City Gymnasium.

Admission is free for the 1 p.m. ~ 5 p.m. Kokoro Tsunagaru Project presentations, brought about after the Okinawa Prefectural Government created an ordinance in order to create a livable community for both disabled and healthy people.  The new ordinance has been in force since April last year.  The prefectural government wants a society that everyone can take part in and live equally and safely.  The project strives to let local people know the ordinance and have a better understanding of disabled people.

The purpose of the project is to inform and educate people what is the ordinance.  Saturday’s stage event includes a Hawaiian Hula experience, a comedy show by Izumi & Yayoi, Paaranai Saaranai, and a presentation by a wheel chair rugby player.  A sports court event demonstrates wheel chair rugby, and Boccia, adapted sports or para-sports for disabled people. There will be soccer attractions, too.

Musicians Soluna, Johnny Ginowan and Wale Wale will entertain as the warm up acts.  The Ginowan City Museum is located next to Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan City.
