China Eastern to open Naha – Fuzhou route in June

China Eastern Airlines is on the final steps of opening a new route between Naha and Fuzhou in China in June.

This will be the first regular route linking Okinawa and Fuzhou. The airline is planning to run two round trips a week between the cities, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using an Airbus 321 airframe with 170 seats.

A China Eastern Okinawa Branch official says, “Naha and Fuzhou are sister cities, and over the years we have built a close relationship. In addition, there are Chinese people from Fuzhou living on Okinawa.  We have great expectations for promoting the route between Naha and Fuzhou, and the future.”

The airline currently runs a route between Naha and Shanghai.  Okinawa Governor Onaga had asked for Li Keqiang, the prime minister of China, for regular flights between Naha and Fuzhou when they met on Apr. 15th.
