Jazz Guild Orchestra orchestrates spring music festival

Okinawa Jazz Guild Orchestra performing in a shrine.

The Okinawa Jazz Guild Orchestra is a big band that likes to play groovy jazz music in live performances, and they’re ready to show off Sunday afternoon at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum.

Besides the Okinawa Jazz Guild Orchestra, the festival provides four other live performances.  Suji Hikkake plays pop, Farofa Nakashima salsa, Nanbu Mango Parties ska music, and Orchesta de VICCO a variety of musical genres.

The Okinawa Jazz Guild Orchestra was a long-standing community favorite until breaking up several years ago. They reunited in 2013 and are happily reuniting with fans.  Various restaurants and bars will have set up sales booths of foods and beverages during the event.

Big Band Jazz might have an image for you as adult and elegant, but the Okinawa Jazz Guild Orchestra brings you not only great music but also an entertaining performance. A total 16 of players of the orchestra give you special time at the outdoor stage of Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum in Omoromachi, Naha City on Sunday. The gate opens 12:00 and the show starts at 12:45. The entry is ¥2,000 for persons over 12 years old.
