Kimono Flea Market thrives old and new

Besides kimonos there are an abundance of accessories.

Kimonobana, known as one of the best antique kimono shops on Okinawa among young kimono lovers, is set to host the 7th Kimono Flea Market on Saturday.

The second hand Kimono sale event takes place from 11 a.m. ~ 4 p.m. on the 2nd floor of LaLa Primo, ‘Synergy Room’ in Nakagusuku Village, 1021 Minami-Uebaru. Admission is free and the event has been filled with people every time.  Kimonos come in very many styles depending on times and places they were made.

Kimonobana has a large selection of retro and antique casual kimonos. Especially popular are kimonos created during the Taisho Period; they are known for relatively colorful, unique and bold patterns.  They are also usually much cheaper than brand new kimonos, so people can get them for a few thousand yen. It is a good chance for kimono beginners who don’t know what to get first to see and try on a kimono.

Colorful classic kimonos can be found at bargain prices at the Saturday sale.

For those wanting to get something different from yukata at regular stores, or kimono for the coming summer season, this is the event that should be checked out.  They will have antique and vintage yukata, and they of course have obi and kimono accessories in the event.

Free parking is available.  More on kimono can be seen at the store website at http://antiquekimono.ti-da.net/
