A Kanagawa man visiting Ishigaki Island with his wife was found floating face down off the beach Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

According to Ishigaki Coast Guard office, the man who was in his 60’s had gone snorkeling off the beach at his hotel at Kabira, Ishigaki Island. He had a life jacket on while he was swimming.

Coast Guard officials are investigating the cause of his death.
