Cowboy Family restaurants are on frontline of U.S. Angus beef

U.S. Angus beef steaks are the highlight meals at Cowboy Family restaurants, the first of which on Okinawa is now open at AEON Rycom Mall.

Steak lovers on Okinawa have a new place to go for a juicy piece of beef; Cowboy Family has arrived in Okinawa from Royal Holdings on the Japanese mainland.

Salad bar is included in all meals as is Cowboy Family’ signature onion soup.

Cowboy Family, which along with another Royal Holdings restaurant, the Royal Host, is now open for business in the brand new Rycom Mall in Kitanakagusuku. Both are featuring authentic, certified U.S. Angus beef on their menus. Cowboy Family restaurant offers large U.S. steaks, has a generous salad and dessert bars, and follows a fun cowboy theme, which is incorporated into everything from the music selection all the way to the outfits of the staff.

Royal Host is a family-style restaurant with a variety of Western and Japanese options, and special seasonal menus that feature food from interesting locations around the world. Their most recent seasonal menu featured various special U.S. beef and Alaska seafood options and immediately before that they featured special food from the Basque region of Spain.

There are 244 Royal Host restaurants across Japan, and 33 Cowboy Family restaurants. All serve U.S. beef. Because this restaurant chain is such an important buyer of U.S. high quality beef, it is a close partner of the Agricultural Trade Office in the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. The company has been recognized in the U.S. Embassy Agricultural Trade Hall of Fame, and received awards from the U.S. Meat Export Federation and the U.S. Certified Angus Beef Association.

Because these are the first outlets opening in the Okinawa region, USDA is working closely with the company to help launch the two restaurants. The parent company, Royal Holdings established in 1950, runs a total of 767 hotels and food related businesses around Japan, including such popular chains as Tenya Tempura and The HUB.

Cowboy Family at Aeon Rycom Mall Okinawa is open 10 a.m.-11 p.m. every day, with last orders at 10 p.m. It seats 143 at 45 tables. Its specialty is Onion Soup. Aeon Rycom Mall Okinawa is a new shopping complex in Nakagusuku, which has 78,000 square meters of floor space and free parking for up to 4,000 cars. The complex has more than 200 outlets and shops and 82 restaurants.
