ANA and Yamato to test luggage delivery service

Okinawa Yamato Transportation co., Ltd, a subsidiary of a large parcel delivery company Yamato Japan, and ANA, All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd, will jointly start on a test basis a temporary service of delivering travelers’ luggage anywhere in the country for a flat ¥500 fee per a piece of luggage. The test service will be available only nine days from Aug. 10th through 18th.

The service is exclusively for ANA customers and designed to alleviate the congestion at the airport during the high season. It’s the first service of its kind in the nation ever. Okinawa Yamato Transportation is setting up a special booth for the service on the 3rd floor of the domestic terminal of Naha Airport, open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The sum of the length, width and height of the each piece of luggage must not exceed 160 cm, and it must weigh less than 25 kilograms. Most suitcases and golf bags fit in this category. Okinawa Yamato Transportation will then deliver the luggage to anywhere in the county for ¥500 per piece. The delivery to the destination is next day for Kanto and Kyushu areas, and two days to other areas in Japan.
