One day, Hideaki Gushiken, better known as “Hide,” the host of the “International Party” series to be held for the 6th time on Aug. 29th, was working at a bar, and was shocked to hear that so many Americans thought they would never have the chance to hang out with the people of Okinawa.

He knew that the reason for this state of affairs was because of the impact the Japanese media has had towards foreigners in Okinawa.

This is precisely why he decided to start the international party series. According to Gushiken, there is no reason to criticize individual active duty members who have nothing to do with setting political agendas and policies, and he hopes to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy irrespective of nationality, and share an understanding of each other as a “person”.

A local English School NaNa, owned by Lina Nakama, will co-host this time the sixth installment of the International Party, and will entertain our friends through music, dance, food, art, free stage performances. The party features a newly designed “matching board,” which helps the participants to connect individuals and match their needs and wants.

Organizers of the party believe that through this International Party series, which will also be held on Sep. 27 and Oct. 18, everyone can share happiness and peace and radiate it to the society.

The party takes place on Saturday (8/29) from 1800-2100 at Koza Central at Chuo 1-7-8, Okinawa City (https://goo.gl/T1Oua5). The entry is ¥1,000 that includes all-you-can-eat tacos, Okinawa soba, and soft drinks. Alcohol at the party is strictly prohibited.
