Third round of ‘intense’ talks held Monday

Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Kazuhiro Sugita arrived at Okinawa Sunday morning for the third round of ‘intensive’ talks between the Okinawa Prefectural Government and the Central Government in Tokyo, to defuse the fight over the relocation of MCAS Futenma to Henoko.

After his arrival, Sugita visited several places on the island, including MCAS Futenma, the returned western part of the former Futenma Housing Area on Camp Foster, and the planned Industrial Corridor Area.

The 3rd meeting was scheduled to take place Monday morning at the Prefectural Government Office in Naha. At the meeting, Sugita was scheduled to discuss the problem with directors of the Department of Civil Engineering and Construction and the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Okinawa Prefecture, in addition to Deputy Governor Mitsuo Ageda and the director of the Prefectural Executive Office.
