Okinawa Marriott Hotel stands on a hill offering a magnificent view over Nago Bay.

This year, Okinawa Marriott Hotel and Spa celebrates its 10th year on Okinawa. Located in Kise, Nago, its 15-floor V-shape building sits on a hilltop overlooking Nago Bay and the East China Sea beyond.

Okinawa Marriott’s 344 rooms and 17 suites offer a visitor comfort, privacy and peace. All rooms are exceptionally large and have hardwood floors and large floor-to-ceiling windows.

The resort also boasts the largest pools on the island, that include a wading pool for the little ones, a 170-meter long outdoor pool open from Apr. through Oct. with a long, winding water slide and a spectacular view,

The buffet has more variety than anyone can possibly sample in one meal.

The pool “garden” area is so large that the fact that the hotel does not have its own ocean beachfront usually does not bother visitors. It has a large area to sunbath, outdoor bar, and live music played by a band on a bridge across the pool in the evenings in the summertime.

Besides, if the urge to splash in the salt water really hits, one can always hop onto a shuttle bus that whisks people to a large beach at the foothill that the hotel uses jointly with the near-by Okinawa Kariyushi Beach Resort. The beach offers a variety of resort water activities from underwater excursions and water skiing to canoeing and glass bottom boat ours.

The hotel also has an indoor pool and hot tub. The indoor facilities include a full-service spa with a well-equipped gym and a salon with nail and massage services.

Tempura is made to perfection.

The hotel has five different restaurants that serve Japanese, Chinese, barbeque and yakiniku meals, and a huge buffet of Japanese and western dishes.

For those who enjoy golf, Kise Golf Club, one of the best courses on Okinawa, is just next door.

Other amenities include free high-speed Internet access Wi-Fi in all rooms, wedding chapel, ball rooms, and a laundry room.

According to Yumiko Ichikawa, the hotel’s International Sales Manager, most of the guests at Okinawa Marriott are individual couples and families, although the hotel also gets some tour groups. Check-in at the hotel is 2 p.m. and check-out 11 a.m. Discount rates are available for seniors and U.S. Government and military.
