Body of missing seaman found at Gushikawa coast

Nakagusuku Coast Guard officials announced that the body of a 19-year-old oil tanker crew member, who had been missing since Mar. 10th, was found by a seawall south of Gushikawa Thermal Power Plant.

The seaman had gone missing from the 3,628-ton oil tanker ‘33rd Toyomaru’ from Hirado City in Nagasaki Prefecture. The ship that is manned by a crew of 12 has been anchored on Nakagusuku Bay off Kin Town.

A worker at the power station discovered the body in the evening of Mar. 17th, and the body was identified as he missing youth through a DNA examination. The Coast Guard and Uruma Police recovered the body, and the cause of the death is under investigation.
