The Okinawa Prefectural Police announced that the rate of traffic accidents resulting in injury or death in Okinawa related to DUI last year was the worst in the nation for the 26th year in a row since 1990.

Okinawa had 5,621 traffic accidents last year, of which 117 was related to DUI. In addition, in eleven cases (27.5 %) of a total of 40 fatal accidents last year, alcohol was a factor. That was also the worst in the nation for the third consecutive year.
