Apartment room burns down in Maejima, Naha

An emergency call from a resident of an apartment building in Maejima, Naha City, Monday evening, said a fire had broken out from an electric teapot.

According to Naha Fire Station, the apartment was in a four-story concrete building, and a room on the third floor burned down. Outdoor machinery on the balcony of the upper floor also burned down. The fire was put out within an hour, and no one was injured. The Fire Department and Police are now investigating the cause.

A man who runs a Japanese style bar across the street from the apartment building said that he saw the fire coming from the pot in the kitchen, and there was a young boy in the apartment, who tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher, but in vain.
