Hansen Festival is built on Rock’n Roll and plenty of fun

What better time of the year for one of the hottest festivals on the island? One of the most popular summer festivals MCCS has to offer is almost here – The Hansen Fest that the MCCS will be hosting this weekend.

Fun for all ages.

The annual festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sep. 3 from 14:00 to 22:00, and Sunday, Sep. 4 from 13:00 to 21:00.

The annual festival welcomes all service members, their families and local Okinawan and Japanese citizens to partake in a weekend of festival fun with favorite festival attractions for all ages, including Fun Land’s rides and bouncers to the smallest revelers, and for the bigger ones, game booths and delicious cultural foods from Okinawa and new food offerings from MCCS.

Beginning this year, hungry revelers can now enjoy such USA staples as sizzling burgers from Bulldog’s Bites, succulent BBQ beef briskets and juicy chicken from Hickory House All-American BBQ, Shisa Pizza

The rock climbing wall has been one of the most popular challenges in all MCCS festivals.

Express pizza and wings, and, for patrons 18 years of age and older, refreshing beverages from the Kanpai Lounge.

On Sep. 3, starting 20:30 p.m., the Hansen Festival’s headline entertainment, American Authors, take the stage with a live performance. American Authors’ career-defining triple-platinum #1 hit “Best Day Of My Life” continues to resonate across the Top 40 nearly three years after its release. With nearly 300 million streams to date, “Best Day Of My Life” boasts over 89 million YouTube views, 40 million of those since last summer alone. American Authors latest video “Pride” is already accumulating considerable buzz.

Pop Rock Band American Authors headlines the entertainment lineup, and is on stage at 20:30 on Saturday.

Hansen Festival is open to all DoD ID card holders and Japanese locals. Free shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from designated parking lots on Camp Hansen. Please leave your pets at home. Do not bring any outside alcohol, bottles or coolers. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly. There will be daiko and taxi services readily available.
