Tropical Beach in Ginowan is one of the most popular beaches on the island, mostly because of its easy access and free parking areas nearby. And to prove that Okinawa’s long hot summer is nowhere near to its end, the beach is the scene of a two-day party named ‘Tropa 2016’ on Sep. 24th and 25th.

The party runs from 9:00 to 20:00 on both days. The program consists of marine sports activities, such as wakeboarding, banana boat and U-tube rides, among others. The rides cost ¥1,000 during the party weekend.

Live bands take the stage in the evening on both days starting at 18:00. Hawaiian and Polynesian dance groups are also scheduled to perform. Other entertainment includes a rock-scissors-paper contest and an arm wrestling tournament. Fireworks end the party on both days.

The beach has free parking for 170 vehicles. Ginowan Marina next door offers parking for ¥300/day.

A bar on the beach serves alcoholic and soft drinks and snack-type food on both days.

In case the weather is bad, the party will be moved to Oct. 1st and 2nd.
