Nanjo shops showcase “Lucky Charms” and other artworks

Artists who design products for commercial enterprises to produce for sale have organized and event called ‘Hanto (Peninsula) Art Festival’ every year since 2008.

This year, the ninth time he event takes place, 15 shops in various parts of the city take part. The event will run from Nov. 25 through 27, and the theme is “Lucky Charm” as it features various styles of lucky charms designed by local craftsmen and designers.

The items on display and sale can be broken down into seven categories, such as pottery art, dyeing and clothes, woodwork, glass, paper cutouts, table coordination, and food.

During the festival, restaurant Ramen Menta in Ozato serves heart shaped eggs for 30 people each day and Karakaua ART&DESIGN in Tamagusuku gives a free original tote bags for the first 50 people.

A picture exhibition is scheduled for the fist floor of Okinawa Medical Hospital on Nov. 25 and 26. The exhibition is open from 9:00 to 17:30 on Friday (Nov. 25) and 9:00 to 12:30 on Saturday (Nov. 26).
