Five arrested for forging marriage documents

Tomigusuku and Okinawa Prefectural Police arrested five persons on Nov. 30, including 39-year-old Maria Leonora Matibug Shimabukuro, a Philippine national from Ibaraki prefecture, on suspicion of forging official documents.

The five persons arrested are suspected of colluding to submit bogus marriage application forms in two international marriages, on which they forged the signature of the Consulate General of the Philippine Consulate in Okinawa, this August and September.

Others arrested include 49-year-old Takao Aguni from Naha City, 38-year-old Miyuki Nema, also from Naha City, and a 31-year-old man from Tomigusuku, and 28-year-old Philippine national woman from Tomigusuku.

Aguni and Nema were arrested on Aug. 4th on suspicion of submitting forged documents to Naha City Office. The other two were arrested on Sep. 27th on suspicion of submitting forged documents to Tomigusuku City Office.

Matibug is suspected of involvement in both cases.

According to Tomigusuku Police, Aguni and Nema are denying the charges.
