Two Okinawa schools win marching competition

The 44th National Marching Band Competition was held on Dec. 17th & 18th at Saitama Super Arena.

The Music Club of Tokeshi Elementary School in Yomitan won the gold medal in the small group marching band category, the first for the school, and the Nishihara High School Marching Band won the gold medal in the middle size group marching band category.

Although Nishihara High School did not win the Grand Prix of the competition this time, they also won the first prize in the group ability category for the 4th consecutive year.

31 groups from elementary schools throughout Japan participated and 11 of them won the gold medals. Altogether, seven groups out of 19 junior high schools and 13 groups out of 34 high schools won gold medals.
