Whale watching season off Zamami begins

The season’s first humpback whale was observed off Zamami Island Sunday.

A member of the Zamami Whale Watching Association was able to take a picture of the whale while it was swimming towards north. The association announced that they would open their office in Zamami Village from this Tuesday.

Cerulean Blue is scheduled to start regular daily whale watching tours on Jan. 7th from Miegusuku Port in Naha and Fisherina Uminchu Wharf in Chatan. The tours leave twice a day from both ports, at 9:00 in Naha and 9:30 in Chatan, and at 13:30 from both ports. The tours take about three hours. The cost is ¥4,200 for persons 12 years old and older. Children from 2 to 11 area ¥3,200. Infants are free.

The whale watching season off Zamami lasts through the end of March.
