Monorail stations get currency exchanges

According to Japan Tourism Agency, 90% of foreign visitors use cash when shopping, and they have been dissatisfied with the shortage of money exchange outlets in Naha. Okinawa Urban Monorail also says that they have received many of requests for the service.

Now the Okinawa Urban Monorail Co., a.k.a. Yuirail, has concluded a contract with ActPro Inc. to set up foreign money exchange machines in the premises of monorail stations at Kenchomae, Makishi, Omoromachi, and Shuri. The machines at the stations will go on line by Thursday this week.

The machines exchange the currency of 12 countries, including U.S. dollars. ActPro set up its fist machine on Okinawa at a sightseeing facility in Nago City in January, and added 20 more places on Okinawa by the end of May. The company aims to set up machines at 50 locations by the end of this year focusing on places with high demand.

Their money exchange machines exchange U.S. dollars, Taiwanese NTD, Hong Kong’s HKD, and Chinese RMB, both in coins and bills.
