Suntory holds “Beam Highball Festival” in Naha

Okinawa Suntory Ltd. is holding a “Beam Highball Festival” at the entrance of the Okinawa Times Building in Kumoji, Naha City. The festival features five different highball cocktails, including “Beam Highball” made with Jim Beam bourbon whiskey, “Beam Highball Shikuwasa” made with Okinawan shikuwasa citrus fruit, and “Beam Highball Tankan Mandarin”. The festival runs through Aug. 12.

Ryoko Gima, from Okinawa Suntory Planning Division, says, “We would like people who are not used to drinking whiskey to try it, specially to try a highball as a starting point.”

A 400ml glass of Beam Highball sells for ¥200 at the event. “Kaku Highball” also costs ¥200, and higher quality brand “Maker’s Mark” high ball is ¥300.

Snacks to go with the drinks are also available, including Fried Minced Meat (menchi-katsu) made of Okinawan pork for ¥500, and sausages for ¥400.

The festival is open from 15:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and 11:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
