All Okinawa Eisa Festival starts today

The 62th All Okinawa Eisa Festival, sponsored by the All Okinawa Eisa Festival Executive Committee, Ryukyu Shinpo, OTV., Okinawa City Tourism Association, and Okinawa City Youth Council, takes place from today (Friday) and runs 3 days at Okinawa City Stadium as the main venue. On Saturday and Sunday (Sep. 16 & 17), the Orion Beer Fest runs concurrently at Koza Athletic Park sub-ground.

Tonight from 6:30 to 9 p.m., the “Michijunee” parade takes place on Gate 2 Street between Goya intersection and KAB Gate 2. On Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m., the 39th Okinawa City Youth Festival takes place on Okinawa City Stadium, and Sunday the main festival takes place on the same stadium from 3 to 9 p.m. Kachashi dance ends the festival with everyone invited to join in. Fireworks and the laser show ends the event on both days.

The area has no free parking in the area for visitors, and the executive committee advises to use buses or taxis. On Sep. 16 and 17, temporary free parking will be at Okinawa City Office, Okinawa City Central Public Parking Lot, Okinawa City Community Center, and Awase Fishing Port from 1:30 to 11 p.m. Free shuttle buses will connect the temporary parking lots to the venue.

The shuttle buses have six bus stops – in front of Okinawa City Office, in front of Koza Music Town, in front of Korinza, Okinawa City Community Center, Awase Fishing Port, and AEON Rycom. The buses run every 20 minutes. The buses to the venue will run from 1:30 to 8 p.m. and the buses back to each stop run from 2 to 10:30 p.m.

Seats on the main stand at Okinawa City Stadium will be charged. S-seats (reserved seating) are ¥2,500, A-seats (reserved seating) are ¥1,500 and B-seats ¥1,000 at gate. In advance, S-seats cost ¥2,000 and A-seats ¥1,200. B-seats are available at gate only.
