“Yanbaru Art Festival 2017 – 2018 Yanbarunihakobune”, a hands-on event to familiarize the public with modern art and traditional crafts, will be held from Dec. 9 through Jan. 8, 2018, in the northern part of Okinawa Main Island.

In a press conference in Tokyo, the festival executive committee announced an opening event at Shioya Elementary School in Ogimi Village on Dec. 8 to kick off the event. The festival is held for the first time with an objective of promoting the attractions of the northern Okinawa.

Other venues of the event in addition to the Shioya Elementary School, include Bashofu Kaikan, Ocean Expo Park in Motobu Town, Nago Agri Park, Churashima Shizen Gakkou, Nago City Hall, and JAL Okuma Private Beach & Resort Hotel.
