“Big sports gathering” is scheduled to be held on Kokusai Street in Naha, on Dec. 10th. The event executive committee held a press conference in the prefectural office, Friday.

The event is named “Olympeace” – from “Olympic” and “Peace”, and organizers expect 1,000-level participants, including Okinawa residents, visitors and tourists. The executive committee calls for participation to promote mutual interaction through sports.

For the event, Kokusai Street will be separated into four areas. The events include a 25-meter sprint, football, Okinawan sumo, and three-on-three basketball among others. TV personalities and Olympic athletes are scheduled to appear in the event.
