Nishihara High marching band wins gold for 5th consecutive year

The 45h National Marching Band Competition, sponsored by the Japan Marching Band Association, was held at Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 16 & 17th. Nishihara High School marching band from Okinawa showed its prowess by winning the competition for the 5th consecutive year in the mid-size group section for 55 to 90 performing members.

The band marched to the tunes of music from the movie “Burlesque”. Nishihara’s 65 members played in a harmony to a huge round of applause from the audience.

The Nishihara Marching Club president said, “I think we can perform with the best of the bands anywhere. We aim our team to win the grand prix next year.”

Takaesu Elementary School from Uruma City, Tokeshi Elementary School from Yomitan Village, Mashiki Junior High School from Ginowan City, and Gushikawa Junior High School from Uruma City, all received silver prizes in their respective categories.
