Four exhibition basketball matches are on tap the coming couple weeks as the Ryukyu Golden Kings prepare for the season debut in October.

A friendly match with fellow Basketball Japan League Akita Northern Happinets takes place on the home hardwoods at the Okinawa Convention Center this weekend. Rounding out the month will be a two-game series against Anyang Korea Ginseng Corporation on the 29th and 30th.

Anyang KGC beat the Japan Varsity team with high scores in the Jones Cup held in Taiwan, showing an aggressive defense and a swift attack. Oh Sekeun, the Anyang KGC Center, is expected to balance head coach Lee’s team. Oh Sekeun has been the MVP of a past playoff series, and has experience as a member of a Korean varsity squad.

On the Golden Kings side of the court, Yosuke Sugawara makes his return this morning after returning from a stint in the United States. The Golden Kings say Sugawara’s back with more energy and sturdiness than ever before.
