A 5 a.m. call to the Itoman Fire Department 119 emergency number quickly scrambled a pair of fire engines to the scene of two cases of suspected arson.

Fire fighters say a bicycle and a motorcycle were first set ablaze in the apartment building parking lot. Minutes later, the fire spread to a mini-car parked in the parking lot. Fireman and Itoman Police say there were no injuries, but that the mini-car was seriously damaged and the motorcycle destroyed.

Itoman police say a resident living close to the site had noticed a burning smell, and then went to investigate. That’s when he found the motorcycle and bicycle burning.
