Yokkatsu Eisa fest coming to Ayahashi Hall

Eisa was originally performed to honor the memory of ancestors on Kyu-Bon, but traditions have moved the dance to level of Okinawa folk art.

Sunday the Yokatsu Eisa Fest brings together the noteworthy traditions of Eisa dance, as saved and presented by local youngsters at the Umi-no-Eki Ayahashi Hall on Kaichu Road in Uruma City, between Yonashiro and Henza Island.

The evening event begins with Henna Kokkei at 6 p.m. and Nohen youth group at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Henza youth group at 7:10 p.m. and Yonashiro youth group at 7:45 p.m.  The Heshikiya youth group is on stage at 8:30 p.m. and Yakena youth group caps the evening with a 9:15 p.m. performance.
