Only a week after the All Okinawa Eisa Festival put 23 teams on parade on Gate 2 Street, Okinawa braces for another big weekend of Eisa festivals.

Kitanakagusuku Village Youth Association Eisa Festival and the 16th annual Ginowan Youth Eisa Festival are both ramping up for plenty of fun and entertainment. At Kitanakagusuku Castle Site Park, sounds of the Gusuku Festival, including performances from young people from Kitanakagusuku and Nakagusuku Village take place Saturday from 6 p.m. ~ 9 p.m. Admission is free. The weekend builds on last weekend’s All Eisa Festival, when 15 dance teams performed each day at Okinawa City.

The Kitanakagusuku Village Youth Association Eisa Festival runs Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a grand fireworks finale following the music and dance. Music and Eisa run non-stop from 3 p.m. to the Kachashi dance at 8:55 p.m., with 13 different groups.

A total of 13 Ginowan Youth Organizations will be putting on their best this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday they’ll demonstrate distinctive dances based on their districts. Organizers note the differences of clothing, dance styles and types of drums between the 13 respective districts, all capping with the Kachaashii at the end of the two days. On top of that, free fireworks adorn the night sky Sunday evening at 9 p.m. after the 5 p.m. ~ 9 p.m. festivities close.

Parking for 300 cars is free for the Ginowan Youth Eisa Festival, which takes place at Ginowan Shimin Hiroba, located across from Ginowan City Hall.

Uruma City Eisa from 3:30 p.m. ~ 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. ~ 9 p.m. on Sunday at Uruma city Yonashiro comprehensive park on this weekend also.
